Learning to appreciate my gifts
I am excited to be part of the Sweat Pink Team! It’s such a great organization with a great message.
Let me introduce myself, I’m Charissa from Colourful Palate. I’m crazy about God, living life to the fullest, working out, chocolate, volleyball, and creating recipes for maximum health and energy.

However, although I’ve always cared about health and fitness, when I was a younger I decided I that being thin was more important. I became nitpicky about food and started to eat more artificial foods that were low calorie and low fat. I hardly ate anything. This quickly changed my thinking so I didn’t care about health as much. I just wanted to be really skinny.
Thankfully, God kept knocking on my heart and told me that He loved me just as I was and that His ways would make me beautiful…inside and out. Finally, I listened. I’ve never been happier.
I’m so grateful to God for stopping me from pursuing a destructive path and showing me how life should be. Now I’m a fanatic for living life eating the foods God created (lots of fruits, veggies, and lean protein) and taking care of the body He gave me. There is such joy in the gifts that God gives.

I love being active. I ran my first full marathon last summer and I play a lot of volleyball. There’s always something fun and active to do and I’m always ready to do it. That’s how fitness should be – something we want to do, something that’s fun for us!

Thanks for reading my story and I hope you’ll check out my site Colourful Palate for some delicious, low calorie recipes, workouts, and healthy living tips!

Thanks for sharing Charissa! You have a really great message in here – so important for women to embrace being themselves…not the skinniest version of themselves. And having fun while working out? Imagine that!
I can definitely relate to taking the less-healthy approach earlier in life. I also feel very fortunate to have pulled away from that path and learned the proper way to stay active and fit! Congrats on your first full marathon, a huge accomplishment!!
Thanks for your encouragement ladies!
