Got Kombucha?

In my opinion, instead of showing all those sexy athletes and actors with their milk mustaches, touting how milk “does a body good”, they should show them with Kombucha mustaches. Ok fine, the campaign needs a little work. Kombucha doesn’t exactly leave a mustache, but at least this is a campaign I could get behind!

Kombucha definitely does a body good, or at least it my case it does. To me the best measure of whether something is good for you is not the 20 articles you can google on it. It is not what your doctor tells you or the amazing marketing strategy that is targeted at you. It is very simple. How do you feel when you eat/drink/do a certain activity?

In an effort to write shorter blog posts, (let’s face it most of us just don’t have time to read anything long) I am going to make this quick. Health really is pretty simple. Experiment and find what works best for your bod! Your body is a fine-tuned machine that knows exactly what you need. If you can get in the habit of learning to listen to it, you can intuitively know what is best for it!

I recently started drinking Kombucha on a regular basis. Not to get into too many details, but my digestive system seems to love it! When your digestion is on track, so is everything else. My skin is clearer, my energy has been better lately, and my stomach even feels a little flatter.

One area the typical American diet is lacking is with fermented foods and beverages. They aid digestion of your food, help you absorb nutrients, assist your body in detoxification, and boost your immune system. You can read more about the benefits of fermented foods in this post, but I am a big advocate of including them often in your diet. Kombucha is a great way to incorporate them. I have been enjoying GT Synergy’s Gingerade (to me it tastes like a refreshing gingerale), Guava Goddess, Strawberry Serenity, and I love the chia seed varieties!

Try out a bottle. I like to enjoy a little bit with meals to aid in digestion and I also have some in the afternoons when I have sugar cravings. One beautiful benefit of fermented foods is that they can help to knock out sugar cravings. A couple sips of Kombucha in the afternoon will also boost your energy!  Enjoy!

I <3 kombucha and am totally on the kombucha train….so much so that I had 3 1 gallon jugs brewing in my apartment. And then, I started traveling like a mad woman…and poof, my kombucha got infested and I had to get rid of it. Booo Hooo.
